Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls an estimated 9,343 model year 2020, 2021 and 2022 Ford Explorer Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) and 2020, 2021 and 2022 Ford Explorer SUVs equipped with the Police Interceptor Utility Package marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain Ford SUVs, a mounting bolt for the Rear Axle Housing could break. As a result, the Axle Housing could move and cause clunking or banging noises with vibrations from the rear of the vehicle. It could also cause the Driveshaft and Axle Shafts to disconnect. This could result in a loss of power to the Rear Wheels.

The recall repairs completed by an Authorized Ford Dealer for recall 22S27 (Transport Canada recall number 2022-198) may not address all safety risks. As a result, this second recall repair is required. In addition, if the previous recall was not completed, the Ford vehicle could move when the transmission is in Park, if the Parking Brake is not applied.
