Among the thirty-six (36) recalls the NHTSA announced in June comes news of the following:

Logo - Kia Motors AmericaKia Motors America (“Kia”), an Irvine, California establishment and a subsidiary of Kia Motors Corporation of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 462,869 model year 2020-2024 Kia Telluride Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Seats – Fire from Overheated Power Seat Motor

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V407000 reports the Front Power Seat Motor may overheat due to a stuck Power Seat Slide Knob. If this defect occurs, it can result in a fire while parked or driving.

According to the NHTSA, a fire increases the risk of explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

Authorized Kia Dealers will install a bracket for the Power Seat Switch Back Covers and replace the Seat Slide Knobs, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 30, 2024.

Owners may contact Kia Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-333-4542 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) for more information. Kia’s designation for this recall is SC316.

==> Owner/operators of the recalled Kia SUVs are advised to park outside and away from structures, including garages, carports, sheds and car barns, until the recall repair is successfully completed and certified by the Authorized Dealer.
