Food Recall: Frito Lay SunChips Snacks & Munchies Snacks

Canada/Ottawa: PepsiCo Canada ULC, a Toronto, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of SunChips Multigrains Harvest Cheddar Snacks and Original Munchies Snack Mix products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Frito Lay Snack Foods are subject to this recall:

• Frito Lay SunChips Multigrains Harvest Cheddar Snacks; affected batch/lots: all sizes/formats with any date code ranging from 2024 JL 16 to 2024 AU 13 and a UPC of 060410040591, 060410066232, 060410001295, 060410037249, 060410003923, 060410053942 or 060410053119
• Frito Lay Original Munchies Snack Mixes; affected batch/lots: all sizes/formats with any date code ranging from 2024 JL 16 to 2024 AU 13 and a UPC of 060410001806, 060410003862, 060410067826, 060410054826, 060410054628 or 060410039342
• Frito Lay Variety Packs Cheesy Mixes, sold in 448 gram bags; affected batch/lots: all sizes/formats with a date code ranging from 2024 JL 16 to 2024 AU 13 and a UPC of 060410074817
• Frito Lay SunChips Multigrains Harvest Cheddar Snacks, sold in bulk 32-pack cases; affected batch/lots: all sizes/formats with a date code ranging from 2024 JL 16 to 2024 AU 13 and a UPC of 060410037256
• Frito Lay SunChips Multigrains Harvest Cheddar Snacks, sold in bulk 40-pack cases; affected batch/lots: all sizes/formats with a date code ranging from 2024 JL 16 to 2024 AU 13 and a UPC of 060410222768
• Frito Lay Original Munchies Snack Mixes, sold in bulk 40-pack cases; affected batch/lots: all sizes/formats with a date code ranging from 2024 JL 16 to 2024 AU 13 and a UPC of 060410221228

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These SunChips Multigrains Harvest Cheddar Snacks and Original Munchies Snack Mix products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, PepsiCo Canada ULC has recalled certain batch/lots of SunChips Multigrains Harvest Cheddar Snacks and Original Munchies Snack Mix products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Snack Foods identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled SunChips Multigrains Harvest Cheddar Snacks and Original Munchies Snack Mix products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store or online outlet where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
