Among the seventy-four (74) recalls the NHTSA announced in March comes news of the following notification:

Logo - Chrysler (FCA US LLC)Chrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and a subsidiary of Stellantis NV of Amsterdam, has recalled an estimated 38,164 model year 2023-2024 Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Chrysler Pacifica, Ram 3500, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, Ram 2500, Ram 4500 Cab Chassis, Ram 5500 Cab Chassis, 2023 Jeep Gladiator, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a GVWR less than 10,000 lbs., and Chrysler Voyager Minivans, Sedans, Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) and Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Air Bags, Steering – Driver’s Air Bag may not deploy in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 208

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V199000 reports the Steering Column Control Module may not be welded properly. If this defect occurs, it can prevent the Driver’s Air Bag from deploying in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”

Logo - Chrysler JeepAccording to the NHTSA, an Air Bag that does not deploy in a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event can cause consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Authorized Chrysler, Jeep and Ram Dealers will inspect and replace the Steering Column Control Module, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 3, 2024.
