Among the forty-nine (49) recalls the NHTSA announced in March comes news of the following notification:
PACCAR Incorporated (“PACCAR”), a Bellevue, Washington establishment, has recalled an estimated 116,343 model year 2021-2024 Peterbilt 348, 365, 367, 389, 535, 536, 537, 548, 567, 579, Kenworth T180, T280, T380, T480, T880, W990, and 2021-2025 T680 Commercial Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
Recall Category: Improperly Crimped Connectors in Gear Shifter
NHTSA Safety Notification 24V190000 reports the Right-hand Gear Shifter Stalk Connectors may have been improperly crimped, resulting in a loss of communication.
According to the NHTSA, a loss of communication between the Gear Shifter and the Transmission may result in the vehicle becoming disabled after coming to a stop, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.
Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Peterbilt and Kenworth Dealers will inspect and replace the Gear Shifter Assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 7, 2024.
