Vehicle Recall: Chrysler Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs

Among the one-hundred-and-thirteen (113) recalls the NHTSA announced in February came news of the following notification:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV of Amsterdam, Netherlands has recalled an estimated 9,433 model year2023-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Exterior Lighting, Electrical System – High Beams may not activate in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 108

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V130000 reports when the Master Headlight Switch is set to the AUTO position, the driver may be unable to quickly activate the High Beams. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment”.

According to the NHTSA, High Beam Headlights that do not activate as intended can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Chrysler Jeep Dealers will reconfigure the vehicle High Beam parameters, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 7, 2024.
