Food Recall: Delizia Vegetarian Beef Balls

Canada/Ottawa: Chuang’s Company Ltd., a Markham, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Delizia branded Vegetarian Beef Balls from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential risks of undeclared Wheat, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious health and safety hazard requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Vegetarian Beef Ball products are subject to this recall:

• Delizia branded Vegetarian Beef Balls, sold in 300 gram vacuum pouches with batch/lot of 01292, 10833 or 12603 and a UPC of 8 16432 00892 3

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Vegetarian Beef Ball products can be found on the Web site above.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Delizia Vegetarian Beef Balls were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces and territories of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and the Yukon, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Chuang’s Company Ltd. has recalled certain batch/lots of Delizia branded Vegetarian Beef Balls from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential risks of undeclared Wheat. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Beef Balls identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Delizia Vegetarian Beef Balls and could be allergic to their Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
