UK/London: Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire Cheese Ltd., a Goosnargh, Lancashire establishment, further expands its existing recall for certain batch/lots of Mrs Kirkham’s branded Lancashire Cheese and Waitrose and Partners products from the British marketplace to include additional Cheese products.
The original recall was initiated due to suspected Escherichia coli (“E.coli”), specifically, Shiga Toxin-producing E. Coli (“STEC”) contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Dairy products are subject to recall:
- Mrs Kirkham’s Mild & Creamy Lancashire Cheese; affected packages sizes: all packages purchased on or after 05 February 2024
- Mrs Kirkham’s Tasty Lancashiree Cheese; affected packages sizes: all packages purchased on or after 05 February 2024
- Mrs Kirkham’s Mature Lancashiree Cheese; affected packages sizes: all packages purchased on or after 05 February 2024
- Mrs Kirkham’s Smoked Lancashiree Cheese; affected packages sizes: all packages purchased on or after 05 February 2024
- No 1 Waitrose and Partners, Farmhouse Kirkham’s Lancashire Cheesee Cheese; affected packages sizes: all packages purchased on or after 05 February 2024
Previously, this notification recalled the following Lancashire Cheese products (which remain subject to this recall):
- No 1 Waitrose and Partners Farmhouse Kirkham’s Lancashire Cheese; affected package sizes: all packages purchased with a use-by date of 30 October 2023, 02 November 2023, 07 November 2023, 10 November 2023, 20 November 2023, 28 November 2023, 04 December 2023, 11 December 2023, 13 December 2023, 20 December 2023, 23 December 2023, 02 January 2024, 09 January 2024 or 16 January 2024
Originally, this notification recalled the following Lancashire Cheese products (which remain subject to this recall):
- Mrs Kirkham’s branded Mild & Creamy Lancashire Cheese; affected package sizes: all packages purchased on or after 1 October 2023
- Mrs Kirkham’s branded Tasty Lancashire Cheese; affected package sizes: all packages purchased on or after 1 October 2023
- Mrs Kirkham’s branded Mature Lancashire Cheese; affected package sizes: all packages purchased on or after 1 October 2023
- Mrs Kirkham’s branded Smoked Lancashire Cheese; affected package sizes: all packages purchased on or after 1 October 2023
==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the UK FSA, Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire Cheese has further expanded its existing recall for certain batch/lots of Mrs Kirkham’s branded Lancashire Cheese and Waitrose and Partners products from the British marketplace to include additional Cheese products.
The original recalled was initiated due to suspected Shiga Toxin-producing Escherichia coli (“STEC”) contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Dairy products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Mrs Kirkham’s branded Lancashire Cheese and/or Waitrose branded Cheese products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Cheese to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Shiga Toxin-producing E. Coli, (“STEC”).
