Vehicle Recall: Prevost H3-41, H3-45 & X3-45 Coaches

US/Washington: As of Saturday, February 3, 2024, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, posted a total of seventy-five (75) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this past month. Among the seventy-five (75) recalls the NHTSA announced in January came news of the following:

Prévost Cars, Inc. (“Prevost”), a Sainte-Claire, Quebec establishment and division of Volvo Buses has recalled an estimated 2,097 model year 2014-2018 H3-41, 2013-2024 H3-45, 2012-2024 X3-45, and 2017-2023 X3-45 Commuter Coaches marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment Adaptive/Mobility – Lift Threshold Warning Lights insufficient

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V889000 reports the Red Beacon Lighting on the Threshold Warning System (“TWS”) may not be bright enough. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, “Platform Lift Systems”.

According to the NHTSA, Beacon Lights that do not provide proper illumination may be less visible to people who use the Wheelchair Lift, increasing the risk of consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Prevost will replace the Red Beacons, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 9, 2024.

Owners may contact Prevost Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-870-2046 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Prevost’s designation for this recall is SR24-03.
