US FlagUS/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, warns against the consumption of certain batch/lots of Fratelli Beretta branded Antipasto Gran Beretta products sold at Costco Warehouse Stores as well as certain batch/lots of Busseto branded Charcuterie Sampler products sold at Sam’s Club from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards/situations requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize suffering and prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Antipasto and Charcuterie Samplers were produced on February 28, 2021 through August 15, 2021 and are subject to this recall:

  • Fratelli Beretta branded Antipasto Gran Beretta, sold at Costco Warehouse Stores in a 24-ounce twin-packs consisting of two (2) 12-ounce trays
  • Busseto brand Charcuterie Samplers, sold at Sam’s Club Stores in an 18-ounce twin-packs consisting of two (2) 9-ounce trays

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Meat products can be found on the Web site above.

These Fratelli Beretta branded Antipasto Gran Beretta and Busseto branded Charcuterie Samplers were known to be marketed, distributed and sold nationally in the US states, although it is always possible these Meat products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) has been working with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) and public health partners to investigate a multi-state outbreak of forty-seven (47) Salmonella illnesses in twenty-two (22) states with onset dates ranging from November 20, 2023, through January 1, 2024.

FSIS continues to work with the CDC and state and local public health partners on this investigation to determine if additional products are linked to illness.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Meat products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Uncured Antipasto Meat products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonelosis.
