Food Recall: Valley Meats Raw Ground Beef

US/Washington: Valley Meats, LLC, a Coal Valley, Illinois establishment, recalls an estimated 6,768 pounds of Raw Ground Beef products from the American marketplace due to suspected Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O157:H7 contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Raw Ground Beef products were thought to have been produced on or about December 22, 2023 and are subject to this recall:

• Angus Ground Beef Patties, sold in 12-pound boxes with a product code of 1208PL, a run number designation of 3356GRDB, a date code of 231222, a use-by code of 01/15/2024 and a time stamp ranging from 7:36:38 AM to 08:00:48 AM
• Angus Ground Beef Patties, sold in 16-pound boxes with a product code of 1253PL, a run number designation of 3356GRDB, a date code of 231222, a use-by code of 01/15/2024 and a time stamp ranging from 7:25:50 AM to 08:00:36 AM
• Ground Beef Patties, sold in 28-pound boxes with a product code of 72287, a run number designation of 3356GRDB, a date code of 231222, a use-by code of 01/15/2024 and a time stamp ranging from 12:44:00 PM to 12:54:32 PM
• Ground Beef Patties, sold in 28-pound boxes with a product code of 72287, a run number designation of 3356GRDB, a date code of 231222, a use-by code of 01/15/2024, and time stamp 1:02:55 PM
• Ground Beef Patties, sold in 24-pound boxes with a product code of 72284, a run number designation of 3356GRDB, a date code of 231222, a use-by code of 01/15/2024 and a time stamp ranging from 1:10:09 PM to 1:10:17 PM
• Ground Beef Patties, sold in 13.5-pound boxes with a product code of 1103, a run number designation of 3356GRDB, a date code of 231222, a use-by code of 01/15/2024 and a time stamp ranging from 1:41:55:55 PM to 1:57:53 PM
• Ground Beef, sold in 20-pound boxes with a product code of 8515, a run number designation of 3356GRDB, a date code of 231222 and a time stamp ranging from 1:16:24 PM to 1:31:15 PM
• Ground Beef, sold in 40-pound boxes with a product code of 8020VP, a run number designation of 3356GRDB, a date code of 231222 and a time stamp ranging from 1:34:54 PM to 2:00:49 PM

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Valley Meats Raw Ground Beef products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Michigan, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, Valley Meats, LLC has recalled an estimated 6,768 pounds of Raw Ground Beef products from the American marketplace due to suspected Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O157:H7 contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Raw Ground Beef identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Raw Ground Beef products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O157:H7 contamination.
