Vehicle Recall: Hyundai Genesis G80 Sedans

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls certain model year 2023 and 2023 Genesis G80 Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain Genesis G80 vehicles, a software malfunction could cause the Sedan’s Lower Beam Headlamps to fail to illuminate as it becomes dark outside if the vehicle’s Multi-Function Switch is set in the OFF position.

Headlamps that don’t illuminate as it becomes dark outside could reduce visibility of both the driver to operate the vehicle, as well as the visibility of vehicle itself to other drivers. If this defect occurs, it could increase the risk of crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Canadian automotive safety regulations require Automatic Headlamps to illuminate when the ambient light level drops below 1000 lux.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Proposed Remedy:
Hyundai Canada will notify affected vehicle owners by mail to advise you to take your vehicle to an Authorized Dealership to update the Integrated Body Unit (“IBU”) Software.

Until the recall repairs are completed, Hyundai Canada recommends that you use the AUTO switch position or manually turn on the vehicle’s Headlamps.
