Recall Category: Power Train – Transmission Gears may seize

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V821000 reports the weld seam of the integrated Transmission Control Unit’s Cover may not have been manufactured properly. If this defect occurs, it could allow Automatic Transmission oil to leak into the Transmission Control Unit.

According to the NHTSA, Transmission oil that leaks into the Control Unit can lead to a seizure of the Transmission Gears, causing a sudden loss of drive power and increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
