Among the forty-four (44) recalls the NHTSA has announced this December comes news of the following:

Logo - Mazda North American Operation ("Mazda")Mazda North American Operation (“Mazda”), an Irvine, California establishment and a subsidiary of Mazda Motor Corporation of Hiroshima, Japan, has recalled an estimated 12,741 model year 2004-2006 Mazda B-Series Pickup Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in the United States that received replacement Front Passenger Air Bag Inflators under a previous NHTSA recall.

Recall Category: Air Bags – Replacement Air Bag Inflator incorrectly installed

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V837000 reports the replacement Front Passenger Air Bag Inflators may have been installed incorrectly.

According to the NHTSA, an incorrectly installed Inflator may not properly inflate the Passenger Air Bag, increasing the risk of consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results during a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Mazda Dealers will inspect and re-install the Front Passenger Air Bag Inflators, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 12, 2024.

Owners may contact Mazda Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-222-5500, option 6 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) for more information. Mazda’s designation for this recall is 6423L.
