US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Shakespeare’s Pizza, a Columbia, Missouri establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of Shakespeare’s branded Frozen Pizzas from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Wheat, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Frozen Pizza products are subject to this recall:

  • Shakespeare’s branded Extra Cheese Pizzas, sold in 12-inch pie packages with a UPC of 686 148 007 370
  • Shakespeare’s branded Vegetarian Pizzas, sold in 12-inch pie packages with a UPC of 686 148 007 394
  • Shakespeare’s branded Four Cheese Pizzas, sold in 12-inch pie packages with a UPC of 686 148 000 050
  • Shakespeare’s branded Spinach Artichoke Pizzas, sold in 12-inch pie packages with a UPC of 686 148 000 043

==> No  item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Shakespeare’s Frozen Pizzas were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Kansas and Missouri, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Shakespeare’s Pizza has recalled all current batch/lots of Shakespeare’s branded Frozen Pizzas from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Wheat,. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Frozen Pizza products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after a routine inspection by government regulatory agency partners reported the ingredient labeling omitted Wheat in the pizzas.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Shakespeare’s branded Frozen Pizzas and could be allergic to their Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
