Food Recall: Loblaw Fresh-Cut Fruit Cups & Fruit Trays

US/Silver Spring:Loblaw Companies Limited, a Brampton, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Fresh-Cut Fruit Cups & Fruit Trays containing Cantaloupe from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

==> No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Loblaw Fresh-Cut Fruit Cups and Fruit Trays containing Cantaloupe were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Loblaw Companies Limited has recalled certain batch/lots of Fresh-Cut Fruit Cups & Fruit Trays from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fruit products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after an expanded recall of Fresh, Whole Cantaloupe Fruit, a primary ingredient supplier to Loblaw for these products.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Loblaws Fresh-Cut Fruit Cups and Fruit Trays containing Cantaloupe, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Fruit to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
