Canada/Ottawa: Snow Cap Enterprises Ltd., a Burnaby, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Red Square branded Powerflax Keto Golden Low Carb Mix Flax Rye Bread Base products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Flax Rye Bread Base products are subject to this recall:

• Red Square branded Powerflax Keto Golden Low Carb Mix Flax Rye Bread Base, sold in twenty (20) kilogram bulk containers with a packed-on date of October 11, 2023, a batch/lot: of 231011 and a UPC of 7 75461 54501 7

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Red Square branded Powerflax Keto Golden Low Carb Mix Flax Rye Bread Base products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of British Columbia, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Snow Cap Enterprises has recalled certain batch/lots of Red Square branded Powerflax Keto Golden Low Carb Mix Flax Rye Bread Base products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Flax Rye Bread Base products identified above.

In general, if glass, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Red Square branded Powerflax Keto Golden Low Carb Mix Flax Rye Bread Base products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis.
