Among the seventy-seven (77) recalls the NHTSA has announced in October comes news of the following:

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (“Toyota”), a Plano, Texas establishment and subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, a Toyota City, Japan establishment, has recalled an estimated 750,795 model year 2020-2023 Toyota Highlander & Highlander Hybrid Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Structure – Front Bumper Assembly may detach

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V720000 reports that during normal vehicle operation, a minor impact to the Front Lower Bumper Cover may result in the Cover coming loose or detaching completely from the vehicle.

According to the NHTSA, a detached Front Bumper Cover can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Toyota Dealers will repair or replace the Upper and Lower Front Bumper Covers as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 11, 2023.

Owners may contact Toyota Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-331-4331 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Central Standard Time (“CST”) for more information. Toyota’s designations for this recall are 23TB12/23TA12.
