Vehicle Recall: Hyundai Genesis & Genesis G80 Sedans

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls certain model year 2015 to 2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedans and 2017 to 2020 Genesis G80 Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain Hyundai Genesis and Genesis G80 vehicles, a problem in the Control Module for the Antilock Brake System (“ABS”) could cause it to short circuit.

If this defect occurs, a short circuit could lead to overheating and wiring damage. An electrical short circuit could create a fire.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat burns, scalds, explosive blast injury, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory and/or cardiac injury.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Proposed Remedy:
Hyundai Canada will notify affected vehicle owners by mail to advise you to take your vehicle to an Authorized Dealership to replace the Fuse for the ABS Module.

==> Owner/operators of the affected Hyundai Genesis Sedans and Genesis G80 Sedans are advised to park outside and away from structures, including garages, carports, sheds and car barns, until the recall repair is successfully completed and certified by the Authorized Dealer.
