UK FlagUK/London: Hotel Chocolat, a Royston, Hertfordshire establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Hotel Chocolat branded Choose Your Poison Chocolate products from the British marketplace due to suspected glass fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Confectionery products are subject to recall:

  • Hotel Chocolat Choose Your Poison, sold in 160 gram packages with a batch/lot number designation of 23205, 23206 or 23207 and a best-before date of January 2024

==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Logo - UK Food Standards Agency ("FSA")According to the FSA, Hotel Chocolat has recalled certain batch/lots of Hotel Chocolat branded Choose Your Poison Chocolate products from the British marketplace due to suspected glass fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Confectionery products identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Hotel Chocolat branded Choose Your Poison Chocolate products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Chocolate products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat glass fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and/or sepsis.
