Among the ninety-two (92) recalls the NHTSA announced in August came news of the following:
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (“Volkswagen”), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group of Wolfsburg, Germany, has recalled an estimated 7,499 model year 2021 Audi S7 Sedans, Audi S6 Sedans, Audi RS7 Sedans, Audi RS6 Avant Station Wagons, Audi A6 Allroad Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”), 2019-2021 Audi A7 Hatchbacks and Audi A6 Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
Recall Category: Service Brakes, Hydraulic – Incorrect Brake Fluid Cap
NHTSA Safety Notification 23V601000 reports an incorrectly labeled Brake Fluid Cap may have been installed. If this defect occurs, it can result in the use of the wrong type of brake fluid.
According to the NHTSA, incorrect brake fluid can reduce braking ability and increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.
Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Audi Dealers will inspect the Brake Fluid Reservoir Cap and, if necessary, replace it, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 17, 2023. Owners may contact Audi’s Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-253-2834 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Volkswagen’s designation for this recall is 47T9.
