Among the eighty-five (85) recalls the NHTSA has announced in August comes news of the following:

Logo - Harley-Davidson Motor Company ("Harley-Davidson")Harley-Davidson Motor Company (“Harley-Davidson”), a Milwaukee, Wisconsin establishment, has recalled an estimated 65,310 model year 2018-2019 FLDE, 2018-2021 FLHC, 2018-2023 FLHCS, 2018 and 2023 FLHCS ANV, 2020-2023 FXLRS, 2022-2023 FXLRST and 2022 FXRST Softail Motorcycles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Suspension – Rear Shock Absorber Fastener may break

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V591000 reports a Fastener securing the Rear Shock Absorber may break and allow the Rear Shock Absorber Adjuster to damage the Rear Tire, causing a loss of Tire pressure.

According to the NHTSA, a loss of Tire pressure can lead to a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Harley-Davidson Dealers will replace the Shock Absorber Fastener, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 5, 2023. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-258-2464 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Central Standard Time (“CST”) for more information. Harley-Davidson’s designation for this recall is 0181.
