Food Recall: Tesco Savoury Meat & Cheese Rolls

UK/London: Tesco PLC (“Tesco”), a Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Tesco Cheese & Onion Rolls, Tesco Finest Steak & Ale Pies, Tesco Mini Pork Sausage Rolls and Tesco Mini Sausage Rolls from the British marketplace due to suspected plastic and metal fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Baked Goods are subject to recall:

• Tesco branded Cheese & Onion Rolls, sold in 360 gram plastic wrapped packages consisting of six (6) pieces with a best-before date of 31 August 2023
• Tesco Finest branded Steak & Ale Pies, sold in 250 gram plastic wrapped packages with a best-before date of 1 September 2023
• Tesco branded Mini Pork Sausage Rolls, sold in 270 gram plastic wrapped packages consisting of nine (9) pieces with a best-before date of 1 September 2023
• Tesco branded Mini Sausage Rolls, sold in 200 gram plastic wrapped packages consisting of twenty (20) pieces with a best-before date of 29 August 2023

==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, Tesco has recalled certain batch/lots of Tesco Savoury Meat and Cheese Rolls from the British marketplace due to suspected plastic and metal fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Savoury Snacks identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Tesco Cheese & Onion Rolls, Tesco Finest Steak & Ale Pies, Tesco Mini Pork Sausage Rolls and/or Tesco Mini Sausage Rolls, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Baked Goods to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and sepsis.
