Vehicle Recall: GM Chevrolet Silverado & GMC Sierra Trucks

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety safety authority, recalls certain 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD Pickup Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain Pickup Trucks, the Steering Gear Shaft may not have been manufactured properly. If this defect occurs, this Shaft could break and cause a loss of steering control.

A sudden loss of steering control, especially at high speeds, could increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage, internal injuries burns, scalds, explosive blast injury, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory and/or cardiac injury.

==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Proposed Remedy:
General Motors will notify affected Chevrolet and GMC owners by mail and advise you to take your Pickup Truck to an authorized GM dealership to inspect the Steering Gear Assembly, and replace it if necessary.
