Product Recall: Bella, Cooks & Crux Pressure Cookers

US/Washington: Sensio Inc., a New York, New York establishment, recalls an estimated 860,000 Bella, Bella Pro Series, Cooks and Crux Electric and Stovetop Pressure Cookers from the American marketplace due to suspected in-use lid locking failure and consequential risks of burns, scalds and eye damage hazards, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves Electric and Stovetop Pressure Cookers marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

• Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 14467 and a 6-quart capacity
• Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 14570 and a 6-quart capacity
• Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 14595 and a 8-quart capacity
• Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 14682 and a 8-quart capacity
• Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 14710 and a 6-quart capacity
• Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 14718 and a 8-quart capacity
• Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 14719 and a 6-quart capacity
• Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 14780 and a 10-quart capacity
• Bella Stovetop Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of JY-PC20US-5P and a 5-quart capacity
• Bella Stovetop Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of JYPC24US-8P and a 8-quart capacity

• Bella Pro Series Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 90072 and a 6-quart capacity
• Bella Pro Series Bella Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 90073 and a 8-quart capacity
• Crux Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 14721 and a 8-quart capacity
• Cooks Electric Pressure Cookers sold with a model number of 22276 and a 6-quart cap

==> No barcodes, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Pressure Cooker’s Lid can unlock and be removed during use, causing the hot contents to unexpectedly splash out on people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use. If this defect occurs, it poses a burn and/or scald hazard to operators and those nearby.

In this case, this recall was initiated after Sensio received sixty-three (63) reports of incidents, including sixty-one (61) burn injuries, some of which involved second- and third-degree burns to the face, torso, arms and hands.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Bella, Bella Pro Series, Cooks and Crux Electric and Stovetop Pressure Cookers, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
