Product Recall: QBD Books My First Music Book Guitars

Australia/Canberra: Cover Syndicate Pty Ltd. trading as QBD Books, a Richlands, Queensland establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of My First Music Book Guitars from the Australian marketplace due to the reported failure to provide the required warning information concerning so-called “Button” Batteries and consequential risks of choking, laceration, burns, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and/or sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Children’s Toys are subject to this recall:

• My First Music Book Guitar, consisting of a novelty board book with an attached electronic toy guitar that plays music and sounds. The Guitar is powered by a button battery and was sold with an ISBN/barcode of 9781788108195.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, QBD Books has recalled certain batch/lots of My First Music Book Guitars from the Australian marketplace due to failure to provide the required warning label concerning so-called Button or Coin Batteries.

Due to this reported defect, small objects could find their way into a young child’s throat and pose choking and/or suffocation hazards and, if placed in the mouth and/or swallowed, pose serious risks of choking, burns, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and death.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled My First Music Book Guitars, please do not use them nor let your children play with or near them. Instead, kindly return the recalled musical instruments to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, laceration, burns, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and/or sepsis.
