Among the twenty-four (24) recalls the NHTSA announced in February comes news of the following:

Logo - General Motors LLC ("GM")General Motors LLC (“GM”), a Detroit, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 22,132 model year 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and Silverado 3500 Pickup Trucks, as well as GMC Sierra 2500 and Sierra 3500 Pickup Trucks equipped with a Dual Fuel Tank Option marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Fuel System, Diesel – Rear Fuel Tank Failure may cause Engine stall

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V047000 reports the Rear Fuel Tank may collapse and prevent the Fuel Pump from transferring fuel to the Front Tank, resulting in an Engine stall.

Logo - ChevroletAccording to the NHTSA, an Engine stall increases the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized General Motors Dealers will inspect the Fuel Tank and Fuel Pump Module, replacing them as necessary. Dealers will also add a Vent Hose to the Rear Tank Assembly. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 24, 2023. Owners may contact Chevrolet Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-462-8782 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. GM’s designation for this recall is N222368030.
