Washington, DC: As of Friday, February 18, 2022, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, has posted a total of fifty-three (53) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this month.

Among the fifty-three (53) recalls the NHTSA has announced in February comes news of the following:

Grand Design RV, LLC (“Grand Design”), a Middlebury, Indiana establishment, has recalled an estimated 20,144 model year 2020-2021 Grand Design Imagine Recreational Travel Trailers marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Structure – Sharp Cabinet Handles May Cause Injury

NHTSA Safety Notification 22V039000 reports the Cast Aluminum Pull Handles on the Cabinet Doors and Drawers may have sharp edges.

According to the NHTSA, sharp Handles could scrape or cut an occupant, increasing risks to the health of people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use. These injury risks may increase in the event of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Grand Design RV Dealers will replace the Handles, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 14, 2022. Owners may contact Grand Design Customer Service toll-free at 1-574-825-9679 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Grand Design’s designation for this recall is 910027.
