Additional information:
Among the one hundred-and-ten (110) recalls the NHTSA announced in June comes news of the following:
Altec Industries, Inc. (“Altec”), a Birmingham, Alabama establishment has recalled an estimated 1,500 model year 2023-2024 Aerial Devices, Digger Diggers, Pressure Diggers, Service Trucks, Reel Lifters, Pressure Washers and Articulating Crane Industrial Trucks built on a Freightliner M2 Plus Chassis marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
Recall Category: Exterior Lighting – Lights may fail from overloaded Wiring in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 108
NHTSA Safety Notification 24V439000 reports the Lighting Wire Harness may be overloaded, preventing the Vehicle Lighting from illuminating. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”
==> Please consult to Altec’s recall report for specific vehicle make and model details.
According to the NHTSA, Lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the vehicle’s visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.
Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Altec Dealers will rework the Lighting Wire Harness and update the Trailer Module as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 12, 2024.
Owners may contact Altec Customer Service toll-free at 1-877-462-5832 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Altec’s designation for this recall is CSN-3161.
