Among the ninety-eight (98) recalls the NHTSA announced in June comes news of the following:

Logo - Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. ("Volkswagen")Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (“Volkswagen”), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group of Wolfsburg, Germany, has recalled an estimated 271,330 model year 2021-2024 Volkswagen Atlas and 2020-2024 Atlas Cross Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Air Bags – Front Passenger Air Bag may not deploy

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V464000 reports the Passenger Occupant Detection System (“PODS”) may experience a fault in the wiring and deactivate the Front Passenger Air Bag when the seat is occupied.

According to the NHTSA, a deactivated Passenger Air Bag increases the risk of injury during a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Authorized Volkswagen Dealers will replace the PODS Sensor Mat and Wiring Harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 16, 2024.
