Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls an estimated 159,474 model year 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Chevrolet Silverado; 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD; 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 GMC Sierra; and 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 GMC Sierra HD Pickup Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain Chevrolet and GMC Pickup Trucks equipped with a Power Sliding Rear Window, the Rear Defroster Circuit could overheat. If this defect occurs, it could cause melting, smoke or, in rare instances, a fire.

On certain certain Chevrolet and GMC Trucks and under certain conditions, a Software problem with the Front Camera Module could cause the Automatic Emergency Braking System (“AEBS”) to falsely detect an obstacle and activate when it is not needed. If this happens, the AEBS will stop or slow the vehicle down suddenly.

On certain GM vehicles, water could leak into the Exterior Tailgate Switch. If this defect occurs, the Tailgate could unlatch and open unexpectedly while parked.

On the affected Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, a Bolt in the Rear Suspension Control Arms may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, the Bolt could break. According to Transport Canada, a sudden change in Rear Wheel alignment can lead to a loss of vehicle stability.

If this defect occurs, Headlamps that don’t turn on as it becomes dark outside could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
