Vehicle Recall: GM Cadillac, Chevrolet & GMC SUVs, Pickups

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety safety authority, recalls certain 2021 to 2024 GM Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) and Pickup Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain vehicles, the the automatic headlamps may not turn on soon enough as it becomes dark outside. If this defect occurs, Headlamps that don’t turn on as it becomes dark outside could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Canadian regulations require automatic Headlamps to turn on when the ambient light level drops below a certain point (1000 lux).

Proposed Remedy:
General Motors Canada will notify affected vehicle owners by mail and advise you to take your SUV or Pickup Truck to an authorized GM dealer and send a wireless Over-The-Air (“OTA”) Software update to eligible vehicles to update the Body Control Module (“BCM”) Software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a GM dealership.
