Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the recalled Bicycle Forks may bend during use just above the bicycle’s disc brake mounting point. If this occurs and the fork bends during use, the rider may lose control of the bicycle; injuries may result.

Salsa Bike Forks #1The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves all Salsa Vaya Bicycle Forks stamped with the batch codes “2011 02 21”, “2011 04 11”, “2011 06 14” and “2011 09 09” as well as all Salsa La Cruz Bicycle Forks stamped with the batch codes “2011 03 01”, “2011 04 08”, “2011 05 30” and “2011 09 09”. The batch code is stamped on the steerer tube.

Salsa Bike Forks #2

According to the CPSC, the forks are made of tubular chromoly steel and can be installed on any bicycle that takes a threadless 1-1/8 inch steerer tube. They were sold individually and as original equipment on Salsa Vaya bicycles and framesets. Salsa Vaya Bicycle Forks are colored orange or dark gray. La Cruz bicycle forks are colored black. The manufacturer’s insignia “CWI” is stamped on the steerer tube; the word “Salsa” is printed on the bicycle’s frame.

The CPSC reports the recalled Bicycle Fork can bend above the disc brake mount, posing a fall hazard to the rider. Salsa Cycles has received eight reports of forks bending above the disc brake mount.
