CDC Issues Romaine Lettuce Warning [US]

US FlagUS/Atlanta: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ("CDC") LogoThe US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”), an Atlanta, Georgia based health promotion and disease prevention authority, warns consumers, restaurants and retailers not to eat, serve or sell any Romaine Lettuce products as it investigates an outbreak of Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157:H7 infections linked to Romaine.

This warning comes after at least thirty-two (32) illnesses have been reported from eleven (11) states, including thirteen (13) people who have been hospitalized. One person developed Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (“HUS”), a type of kidney failure. No deaths have been reported.
