The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Uncooked Lean Ground Beef is subject to this recall:

  • Sunspun Bearpaw-shaped Beef Burgers, 4.54 kilogram packages; Best before date: 2014-02-24 B##* BMP EST. 112 * where ## is a variable number; UPC: 0 60383 09052 4; sold in the following Loblaw banner stores:
    • Ontario: Loblaws, nofrills, Real Canadian Superstore, Your Independent Grocer, Zehrs Markets, Real Canadian Wholesale Club, Extra Foods, Fortinos, Freshmart, AXEP and Cash&Carry
    • Atlantic: Real Canadian Wholesale Club, Cash&Carry, Freshmart, Red & White and Save Easy
    • Quebec: Loblaws, Maxi, Presto/Club Entrepot and Provigo
    • West: Real Canadian Superstore, Real Canadian Wholesale Club, Extra Foods, nofrills, Shop Easy, SuperValu and Westfair Independents

About E. coli enteritis:
E. Coli 0157:H7 poisoning is a serious and potentially deadly illness, typically transmitted using the fecal-mouth route by eating or drinking foods or beverages contaminated with E. Coli O157:H7, eating unpasteurized (i.e., raw) milk and (raw) milk products and untreated water.

Common symptoms of E. Coli 0157:H7 poisoning include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), vomiting, nausea and headache. People particularly at risk for serious E. coli illness and complications are the very young, the elderly or those with compromised immune systems.
