Horizon Hobby Dynamite Battery Recall [US]

US CPSC RecallUS/Washington: Horizon Hobby recalls some Dynamite Batteries due to fire hazard. CPSC: http://ht.ly/mnWFf

Direct link: http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2013/Horizon-Hobby-Recalls-Batteries/Horizon Dynamite Batteries

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves some Dynamite 7.4 volt LiPo Batteries used to power Horizon Hobby’s Losi Micro remote control (“RC”) vehicles. The recalled Batteries measure approximately 2 inches long by 1 inch wide by 1/2 inch thick.

The Batteries were sold separately from the vehicles and have red and black wires coming out of the end into a white plastic connector. The words, “Dynamite”, “180 mAh”, “2S”, “20C Li-Po” and “DYN1429” are printed on the side of the black and orange-colored batteries.

According to the CPSC, the positive and negative Battery leads are incorrectly wired to the Battery connector in the recalled product. The use or charging of the Battery, therefore, can cause the Battery to overheat, posing a fire hazard.
