The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following foods are subject to this recall:

  • Sainsbury’s Watercress Leaves, 75 gram bag
  • Sainsbury’s Watercress, Spinach and Rocket salad, 100 gram bag
  • Sainsbury’s Watercress, Spinach and Rocket, 170 gram bag
  • Sainsbury’s Watercress twin pack, 2 by 35 gram bags
  • So Organic Watercress, 75 gram bag
  • So Organic Watercress, Spinach and Rocket, 100 gram bag

All ‘Use-By’ date codes are subject to this recall.

According to the FSA, the recalled Watercress is known to have sickened at least 19 people.

About E. coli enteritis:
E. Coli 0157:H7 poisoning is a serious and potentially deadly illness, typically transmitted using the faecal-mouth route by eating or drinking foods or beverages contaminated with E. Coli O157:H7, eating unpasteurised (i.e., raw) milk and (raw) milk products and untreated water.

Common symptoms of E. Coli 0157:H7 poisoning include severe stomach cramps, diarrhoea (often bloody), vomiting, nausea and headache. People particularly at risk for serious E. coli illness and complications are the very young, the elderly or those with compromised immune systems.
