US FlagUS/Bethesda: Sakar International Inc., an Edison, New Jersey establishment, recalls an estimated 33,100 Credhedz Lizard Helmets, Crayola Dry Erase Helmets and Tony Hawk branded Multi-Purpose Helmets from the American marketplace due to suspected failure to comply with the positional stability and retention system requirements of the US CPSC federal safety standard for Bicycle Helmets and consequential risks of laceration, traumatic brain injury (“TBI” or “concussion”), bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves three (3) Helmet models from Sakar International, specifically the Crayola Dry-Erase, Credhedz Lizard and  Tony Hawk Helmets marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

  • Crayola Dry-Erase multi-purpose Helmets are white and have black straps and a black buckle and are sold with a five (5) pack of markers. A white warning label on the inside of the Helmet lists its item number as ACTGEAR242071.
  • Credhedz Lizard multi-purpose Helmets are black with a green plastic lizard on the top of the helmet and have black straps and a black buckle. A white warning label on the inside of the Helmet lists its item number as ACTGEAR241-LIZ.
  • Tony Hawk multi-purpose Helmets were sold in various colors and have black straps and a black buckle. A white warning label on the inside of the Helmet lists its item number as AGE251TH-GCRM, AGE251TH-NCRM, AGE251TH-BKMT, AGE251TH-BLU-T30-12, AGE251TH-RBW, AGE22SLDTH-BLK or ACTGEAR242TH-GRN.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Helmets reportedly do not comply with the positional stability and retention system requirements of the US CPSC Federal Safety Standard for Bicycle Helmets.

Specifically, the Helmets can fail to protect in the event of a crash or other impact event, posing risks of head laceration, traumatic brain injury (“TBI” or “concussion”), bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Credhedz Lizard Helmets, Crayola Dry Erase Helmets and Tony Hawk Multi-Purpose Helmets, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Sakar for instructions to return the Helmet to Sakar for a refund in the form of a $30 gift card. Contact Sakar for prepaid postage packaging to return the Helmet to them. Sakar is requesting you do not return the Helmet to the retailer. The company is also contacting all known purchasers directly.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
