These Beef Pot Roast Dinners bear establishment number “EST. 51558” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.
According to the USDA, it has issued a Public Health Warning against the consumption of certain batch/lots of Hy-Vee Beef Pot Roast Dinners from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Wheat. A formal Recall was not requested because the subject Beef Pot Roast Dinners are thought to be no longer available for purchase.
In this case, the Warning was issued when the Hy-Vee identified that it had received a substitute Gravy Mix from its spice supplier that includes Wheat, whereas the usual Gravy Mix used by the company for this product does not. The establishment subsequently notified FSIS that the label on the back of the product does not list Wheat contained in the substitute Gravy Mix.
As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Beef Roast Meals identified above.
