Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: For Baby and Up, a Zetland, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Green Sprouts Stainless Steel Straw Bottles, Sippy Cups from the Australian marketplace due to suspected component detachment and Lead contamination with consequential risks of poisoning, developmental impairment, and/or long-term damage, reproductive delays and/or long-term damage, genetoxicity and/or mutagenicity, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Children’s Bottles and Sippy Cups are subject to this recall:

  • Green Sprouts Stainless Steel Straw Bottles, Sippy Cups and Sip & Straw Cups, sold in 6-ounce (117 mL) sizes. The recalled double-walled stainless steel bottles were sold in aqua, pink, green and navy colors with one (1) of three (3) closure options: (1) a silicone sippy spout with a colored plastic lid, collar and handle (2) a silicone sippy spout and a straw spout with colored plastic lid, collar and handle, or (3) a silicone straw with plastic screw-on flip cap, as follows:
    • Green Sprouts branded Stainless Steel Sippy Cups
    • Green Sprouts branded Stainless Steel Sip & Straw Cups
    • Green Sprouts branded Stainless Steel Straw Bottles

==> No barcodes, APNs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Children’s Bottles and Sippy Cups were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states, although it is always possible these kitchen products had wider distribution outside the country.

Logo - The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission ("ACCC")According to the ACCC, the recalled Stainless Steel Bottles and Cup Bottom Bases can break off, exposing a solder dot that contains Lead, posing a Lead poisoning hazard to a child due to levels of Lead that exceed the Australia’s heath and safety regulations. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Excessive levels of Lead can be toxic or cause other health problems to young children if the paint is ingested and pose risks to the health and safety of people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Children’s Bottles and Sippy Cups, please do not use them. Instead, kindly take the Bottles and/or Cups away from your child and contact For Baby and Up for a full refund, including shipping, by e-mailing the company at info@forbabyandup.com.au.
