US FlagUS/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, warns against the consumption of certain Fish products produced by A & S Produce Inc., a Vernon, California establishment, conducting business as Greenland Food Company, that were reportedly produced without the benefit of federal inspection with consequential risks of undeclared allergens, bacterial and/or viral infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Frozen Swai Fried Fish Cutlet products were produced from July 2022 to September 2022 and have a shelf life of two (2) years products and are subject to this recall:

  • Fried Fish Cutlet, sold in 1-pound vacuum-packed packages

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The Fried Fish Cutlet products involved in this public health alert do not bear the establishment number or a USDA mark of inspection.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Fried Fish Cutlets can be found on the Web site above.

These Fried Fish Cutlet products were known to have been marketed, distributed to restaurants and retail locations in the US state of California, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fish Cutlet products identified above.

The recall was initiated after routine Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) surveillance activities in retail stores determined that found FSIS-regulated products without a USDA mark of inspection.

The USDA’s FSIS is concerned that some product may in consumers’ freezers. People who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Fried Fish Cutlet products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial and/or viral poisonings.
