Among the sixteen (16) recalls the NHTSA has announced in January comes news of the following:
BMW of North America, LLC (“BMW”), a Greer, South Carolina establishment and a subsidiary of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG of Munich, Germany, has recalled an estimated 14,086 model year 2022-2023 BMW iX xDrive40, BMW iX xDrive50, BMW iX M60, BMW i4 eDrive35, BMW i4 eDrive40, BMW i4 M50, and 2023 BMW i7 xDrive60 Electric Vehicles (“EVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
Recall Category: Electrical System – High Voltage Battery ECU may interrupt power
NHTSA Safety Notification 22V944000 reports the High Voltage Battery Electronic Control Unit (“ECU”) Software may cause an interruption of electrical power.
According to the NHTSA, an interruption of electrical power may result in a sudden loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized BMW Dealers will update the High Voltage Battery ECU Software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 10, 2023. Owners may contact BMW Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-525-7417 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
