Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: TOMY Australia Pty Ltd., a Dandenong South, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of TOMY Lamaze Chill Teether Toys from the Australian marketplace due to suspected Sphingomonas sp., bacterial contamination and/or Staphylococcus epidermidis bacterial contamination with consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Children’s Toys are subject to this recall:

  • Lamaze Chill Teethers, sold in clear semi-transparent colour/style with an item number of Y5288L, a production code of E1920ALP01 or K1920ALP01 and an APN/barcode of 0071463052882

==> No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These TOMY Lamaze Chill Teether Toys were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states, although it is always possible these toy products had wider distribution outside the country.

Logo - Australian Competition & Consumer Commission ("ACCC")According to the ACCC, TOMY Australia Pty Ltd. has recalled certain batch/lots of TOMY Lamaze Chill Teether Toys from the Australian marketplace due to suspected Sphingomonas sp., bacterial contamination and/or Staphylococcus epidermidis bacterial contamination.

In this case, this recall was initiated when it was found that the liquid filling in the Teether with a production code of K1920ALP01 is contaminated with Sphingomonas sp bacteria while the liquid filling in the Teether with a production code of E1920ALP01 is contaminated with the bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis. 

As a direct result of these suspected defects, parents and other caregivers should not let your child play with or near the recalled TOMY Lamaze Chill Teether Toys identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food or product poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled TOMY Lamaze Chill Teether Toys, please do not use them nor let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly contact TOMY Australia for a replacement Lamaze Teether Toys.
