Product Recall: Janod Sweet Cocoon Children’s Activity Toys

Canada/Ottawa: Pierre Belvédère Inc., a Lasalle, Québec establishment, recalls an estimated 1,029 Janod Sweet Cocoon Children’s Activity Tables from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected component detachment and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and/or sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Children’s Activity Toys are subject to this recall:

• Janod Sweet Cocoon Activity Table Toys, sold with an item designation of J04402 and a batch/lot number of 10615/J04402/032021, 10887/J04402/082021 or 11107/J04402/122021. Each Activity Table is made from wood and is pastel in colour and comes with toy vehicles set on a round circuit, gears, colour shapes and a corkscrew abacus.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Children’s Activity Toys can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Janod Sweet Cocoon Children’s Activity Tables may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these toy products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to Health Canada, Pierre Belvédère has recalled an estimated 1,029 Janod Sweet Cocoon Children’s Activity Tables from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected component detachment and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and/or sepsis.

As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Children’s Activity Tables identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Janod Sweet Cocoon Children’s Activity Tables, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact the retailer where the product was purchased for instructions concerning return and/or refund options.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and/or sepsis.
