Among the sixty-eight (68) recalls the NHTSA announced in November came news of the following:

Logo - Navistar International CorporationNavistar International Corporation (formerly International Harvester Company) (“Navistar”), a Lisle, Illinois establishment, has recalled an estimated 25,822 model year 2021-2022 International CV, 2022-2023 International HV, 2023 International IC 1300 FBC, CE, RE, TC, International MV, HX, LT, RH, and LoneStar Commercial Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Suspension, Steering – Hex Flange Lock Nut may break

NHTSA Safety Notification 22V869000 reports the Hex Flange Lock Nuts, used in the Suspension and Steering Joints, were improperly heat treated and may break.

According to the NHTSA, broken Hex Flange Lock Nuts may cause a loss of tension, leading to steering instability, and increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Navistar Dealers will replace the Hex Flange Lock Nuts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 20, 2023. Owners may contact Navistar’s Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-448-7825 normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Central Standard Time (“CST”) for more information. Navistar’s designation for this recall is 22524.
