Food Recall: Alpha Meatless Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches

Canada/Ottawa: UNFI Canada Inc., a Concord, Ontario and Burnaby, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Alpha branded Plant-Based Meatless Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious health and safety hazard requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Meatless Sausage Breakfast Sandwich products are subject to this recall:

• Alpha branded Plant-Based Meatless Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches, sold in 156 gram packages with a batch/lot of 121121MSS, an expiry date of 12/11/2023 and a UPC of 8 10070 35037 6

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Meatless Sausage Breakfast Sandwich products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, UNFI Canada Inc. has recalled certain batch/lots of Alpha branded Plant-Based Meatless Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Milk. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Meatless Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Alpha branded Plant-Based Meatless Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
