Among the thirty-seven (37) recalls the European Union announced in its fourth (and final) report of November 2022, the following recall notification was made:

Product Recall: Too Hot branded Single Hot Plates

Too Hot branded Single Hot Plates, sold with a model designation of SHP-094B-500W and a barcode/EAN of 599004697185. This recall alert was submitted by Hungary to the EU Safety Gateway under alert number A11/00129/22.

These Too Hot branded Single Hot Plates were marketed, sold and delivered as consumer-grade counter-top cooking appliance used to cook or heat up small meals on its single element heating plate. Each of the recalled Hot Plates draws a maximum of 500 watts at 230 VAC and measures approximately 13,8 centimeters by 17 centimeters by 7 centimeters and comes with a “CE” approval marking on the package.

No manufacturing date codes, batch/lot designations, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The hazards reported in the recalled Too Hot branded Single Hot Plates include the finding that the accessible metal parts can become electrically live due to the wire ends of the main cable not being properly anchored. If this defect occurs, it poses consequential risks of burns, electrical shock, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure and/or cardiac system collapse, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

As a consequence, utilizing the recalled Too Hot branded Single Hot Plates in a reasonable manner expected with their intended design and anticipated use could precipitate serious injury and/or life-changing health consequences.

Proposed Remedy:
Due to these defects, the recalled Too Hot branded Single Hot Plates reportedly do not comply with the requirements of Europe’s Low Voltage Directive nor with the European standard EN 60335.

Consequently, a recall of these Too Hot branded Single Hot Plates has been issued for the European marketplace. You should not market, sell or use the recalled furniture products.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Too Hot branded Single Hot Plates, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact the store from which you purchased the product for return instructions.

If you have a medical emergency, please contact 1-1-2, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat burns, electrical shock, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure and/or cardiac system collapse.

Please note: 1-1-2 (also written as “112”) is the universal European emergency number you can dial free of charge from fixed and mobile phones anywhere in the EU. It will connect you to the local emergency services including police, ambulance, fire brigade. National emergency numbers are still in use too, alongside 1-1-2. but 1-1-2 is the only number you can use to access the emergency services in all EU countries.
