Fidella Fusion branded Full-Buckle Babytrage – Saint Tropez Anthrazit Baby Backpack Baby Carriers, sold with a batch/lot designation of Fid FU-BS-2158 and a barcode/EAN of 4251243353033. This recall alert was submitted by Spain to the EU Safety Gateway under alert number A12/01625/22.

These Fidella Fusion branded Backpack Baby Carriers were marketed, sold and delivered as consumer-grade backpack-style infant/baby carriers used by parents and other caregivers to transport a child and are equipped with padded shoulders and sold in black with an off-black relief design. Each of the recalled Baby Carriers can be adjusted for shoulder height and weight and placement of the child.

No model numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The hazards reported in the recalled Fidella Fusion branded Backpack Baby Carriers include the finding that the product label comes off easily. If this defect occurs, it poses consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and/or sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additionally, the Straps of the Carriers’ Head Rests are reportedly too long allowing the child’s neck to become entangled in them. The Straps to adjust the Bridge Width for the child’s legs are longer than prescribed by regulation. If this defect occurs, it poses risks of additional injuries to the child. Finally, the recalled Backpack Baby Carriers are sold with a Textile Bag with drawstrings. If a child puts his or her head inside the Bag and then pulls the drawstring to close it, the child may get strangled or be asphyxiated by it. This could lead to respiratory collapse, adverse cardiac events and/or brain damage leading to long-term developmental difficulties or even death.

As a consequence, utilizing the recalled Fidella Fusion branded Backpack Baby Carriers in a reasonable manner expected with their intended design and anticipated use could precipitate serious injury and/or life-changing health consequences.
