US FlagUS/Washington: Behrmann Meat and Processing Inc., an Albers, Illinois establishment, recalls an estimated 87,382 pounds of various ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Pork and Beef Meat Products from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Pork and Beef Meat Products are subject to this recall:

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail and/or wholesale presentation. Additional images of the recalled Meat products can be found on the Web site above.

These various ready-to-eat (“RTE”) meat products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of retail locations and wholesale distributors in Illinois, Kentucky, and Missouri, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST 20917” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Meat Products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Pork and Beef Meat Products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
