Canada/Ottawa: JYSK Linen ‘N Furniture, a Coquitlam, British Columbia establishment, recalls an estimated 119 In Home Birk Shag Area Rugs from the Canadian marketplace due to failure to meet Canadian flammability regulations and consequential risks of burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Shag Area Rugs are subject to this recall:

• In Home Birk Shag Rugs, sold with an item number of 522-197-1022, a purchase order designation of CL-118597

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Shag Area Rugs may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these Shag Rugs products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to Health Canada, JYSK Linen ‘N Furniture has recalled an estimated 119 In Home Birk Shag Area Rugs from the Canadian marketplace due to failure to meet Canadian flammability regulations and consequential risks of burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure and/or cardiac system collapse to people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled In Home Birk Shag Area Rugs, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure and/or cardiac system collapse.
